  • MIRx and Slots A and B

    HI.

    Love MIRx ,

    questions :

1- Say I load 8 DS group , and choose MIRx , choose the center front all pourpose position preset. is that the same settings if a load the DS cellos ?

2- I load the 8 violins in slot A, in addition I load the similar cello patches in slot B so I can play them in unison , Is there a problem choosing the front center preset?

  • Hi mazeka,

I'm not sure that I really understood what you're asking for - sorry to say so.

The General Purpose positions are identical for all instruments, no specific settings were applied. I strongly suggest to use the dedicated presets for all Vienna Instruments, unless you look for a very specific setup and/or use some exotic instrument which is not covered by the 900 presets.

MIRx uses a combination of quite sophisticated algorithms to decide which instrument's presets are the one to choose from. It's always the first slot which is taken into account. For your Vi / VCL-unisono lines I would suggest to use two instances of VI Pro, using the same MIDI channel. Otherwise you will use MIR in a quite conventional "reverb engine" way, which means that you will miss quite a bit of the "magic" it would able to achieve.

    Kind regards,

  • HI,

Thank you for the resposne ....

here is what I am after...

1- I need both DS violns and cellos to play in unison...... for live performance with a band..

2- wanted to use VIP app to select cells etc...

    3- wanted to use VEP5...

4- inside VEP, I would have two VIP, one for DS violins other is for DS cellos,

5- problem is, there is no way to control both instances of VIP using the ipad app.

6- the finale solution , is to just use VIP and load the violins in slots A, and Cellos in slots B

7- with MIRx, I want to apply the reverb to both .... for live playing center front is what I need.

8- now, is there an issue, for both violins and cellos to be places in the front center of MIRx ?

    thank you.

  • Hi,

why don´t you simply use a sequencer for live playing, not for playback, but just to activate multiple MIDI tracks. This way, if you have all instruments on separate MIDI tracks and layed out the same, you can control all instances with one VI PRO Remote App.

AND you can take advantage of the individual presets for each Dimension Strings player.

In each instance of VIP you can check if you want it to be controled via the , that wont be comlicated :)

Regardless, it is what it is..
