Audio interface - USB vs PCI
Are there any advantages of going through a mixer and into a PC via USB? OR would I be better off going directly from a mixer and into a PCI card? Considering the card below RME HDSP 9632. My problem is, the mixer I have is the Edirol M100 FX (old) and I'm concerned that it won't be putting out the quality that the RME card is capable of. Perhaps I should ditch the mixer and plug directly into this card straight from mic? My purpose is for voice overs. They have to be radio/production ready. I want to maximize my quality. Please advise..... Sound card: http://www.zzounds.com/item--RMEHDSP9632 . Mixer: http://www.roland.com/products/en/M-100FX/

The RME HDSP 9632 has been a known good thing. The one potential drawback for your purpose is that the card simply has balanced ins (or unbalanced RCA, depending on the break-out cable), no preamps. Thus, you would need to continue to use your Edirol M100 FX.
RME's drivers are known to be very good, and it is generally reported (no first-hand experience) that the RME USB interfaces behave much closer to PCI card interfaces than most others. If your budget allows, consider looking at the RME Babyface, as another alternative that would include two microphone preamps.
