  • VEP5 64bit AAX

Hi There, So VEP5 does not show up in Pro Tools 11. I thought it was a 64bit aax plug. Anyone know what is happening here? Thanks!

  • We have just released a new public beta of VEP5, which fully supports AAX Native 64 in PT11. All other software has also seen 64-bit AAX updates and are currently being uploaded to our servers.

    Known issues:

    - RTAS plugins will not automatically be converted to AAX-64 plugins.

    Thanks,

    Martin

  • Thank you so much. It works GREAT!!!!

  • Will the beta overwrite my current VEP5 installation?

  • Yes, it will overwrite your current installation. You can at any point install the regular version over the beta however, if you wish to step back.

  • OK thanks. One more quick question. If I open my PT10 template with about 20 VE Pro RTAS instances in PT11, will it convert them to AAX automatically?

    Hi Dave,

That´s actually the only known issue, battling it right now.... also see Martin Saleteg´s announcement here:

Just adding the info to the changelog and release notes.

    Best,

  • Unfortunately it will not. We are currently working on having this migration automatic, and will hopefully release such an update very soon.

With the last build 5.1.1.12337. Now it works. [H]

  • Excellent... Nice work guys.

  • I installed the 64bit AAX version yesterday as a a new install. I bought it after seeing Russ Hughes video. I can't believe how smoothly the setup went and I had instances of Omnisphere, Play, and Ivory running side by side with the CPU barely breaking a sweat. However, when I tried out a send-return setup, I get audio back with distortion, even before instantiating Altiverb. I created an audio input track in VEP5 as Russ showed in his video with Altiverb. I removed Altiverb, and the audio still returns to PT with distortion. I've been on here searching for a solution or perhaps to see if I've done something incorrectly. Closed everything and rebooted. No change. I'm going to read the manual again to see if I've done something incorrectly Neale Eckstein Fox Run Studio Mac Pro 12 core 2.66, OSX 10.8.4, 64 GB ram, PTHD 11.0.1, HDX1

  • OK. I experimented some more, re-watched the video and figured out the user error. I had the audio input track routed to IN 5-6 and also to OUT 5-6. When I changed the OUT to 7-8 everthing was fine. Still trying to wrap my head around why that should be a problem and why it's different than sending an audio signal into A 1-2 and out A 1-2, which, of course is not an issue.
