  • Looking for a good ethernet hub

Hello Vienna users! I'm planning on building a three(maybe four if things are ok financially) computer rig this summer/fall to expand my composition capabilities. VE Pro 5 is the essential glue for the fruition of my plans, and I want to ensure a smooth transition to a multi-rig workflow. I wanted to see what others were using router-wise, what worked well, what didn't, etc... So the question is: What's a decent, or preferably, a superb choice in terms of routers when it comes to being a VE Pro 5 user? Thanks a plenty guys! - Corin

  • Computers are connected over a Gigabit  network by a switch.  A router is something else, though may have a hub or switch included.

Anything from a major manufacturer should do the job, though I'd look for something withour a fan for less noise.

  • Thanks Bill. Didn't even know switches existed(never really did any true networking) In my ignorance, I would have probably bought something I didn't need at all. Cheers! - Corin

  • Hi, I use your topic to ask more question: I have just 2 computer to connect. I'd like to know if I just need 2 network-card or do I have to buy a swither or rooter? And can I connect 2 computer with the gigabit network card? If so what recommend? I'm thinking another way to connect these 2 computer by 1394? Are there any one tried this kind of connection? Is it fast enough? thanks _sm
