  • Cubase 7 - MIR Quick setup guide...?

    Hello,

    Being new to Cubase I have tried to setup MIR to work for the last 4 hours without any success. I have tried to find any guides about how to do it but without luck. I would be more than grateful if anyone could help me to understand what I need to do.

    So. This is how I've set things up thus far;

    1. Cubase -> Devices -> Device setup -> VST Audio System [VST Audio System -> Avid Mbox Pro ASIO (64-bit)] // The last being my main ASIO driver

    2. Cubase -> Devices -> Device setup -> Avid Mbox Pro ASIO (64-bit) // In this menu I can enable/disable External clock/Direct monitoring as well as launch my Audio Interface control panel.

    3. Start -> Vienna Ensamble Pro Server (64-bit) -> Add Instance -> Select MIR venue and OUTPUT = 3/4

    4. Add VIPRO track, load sample. Midi In = Omni Channel = 1

    5. Cubase -> Devices -> VST instruments -> (slot 1) Vienna Ensamble Pro // This opens the VE Pro 5 server connect interface

    5. Cubase -> Devices -> VST instruments -> Click on the icon that looks like ->[_] and add OUT3/4

    6. Cubase -> Create Midi Track -> [INPUT = Midi Controller In] [OUTPUT = ViennaEnsamblePro-MIDIIN-1] [CHANNEL=1]

    7. Cubase -> Midi channel -> Record and play! - Sounds great. But no MIR output? The PAN changes as I move the instrument around in a venue but there is only a dry signal. No wet signal at all.

    The instrument is loaded on stage and the activity meter show that there is activity in MIR. But I can't hear any wet signal (if I max the wet signal on the MIR instruments section I get no output at all). I've tried everything from Low latency ASIO driver (which went horrible) to OUTPUT set on MIR to 3/4, added a track in VEPRO5 which had 3/4 as inserts and 1/2 (master) as output - but no luck. I really need a guide for dummys how to make this work.

    Thnaks,

    Best regards

    Vienna Konzerthaus. Tried both Grosser Saal (Great Hall) and Foyer und Hauptstiege (Foyer and Grand Staircase). Might add that I've updated all software.

    Hi Jhonny,

    from the distance it seems as you have set up everything properly. Two possible reasons come to mind:

    - Is the output channel of MIR Pro set to "Dry Solo", by any chance?

    - Is the red MIR Pro plug-in in VE Pro's Instrument Channel set to "Bypass"?

    ... if these suggestions won't fix the issue, please send copies of your Cubase- and VE Pro-projects (and a screenshot of MIR Pro's Main Vue) to . We will look at it ASAP.

    Kind regards,

  • Hello,

    Thanks for answering, very much appreciated.

    My audio interface is set to buffer size 64.

    Also having this strange issue where it doesn't seem to matter what MIDI CHANNEL I am tracking on a midi track within Cubase, it still plays all the instruments at once even if I have the corresponding mapping in VEP5. Might be something to do with my master key, M-Audio Oxygen 88. Will try and find a solution for that as well. But I guess all of that must sit within Cubase settings...?

    Thanks again,

    Best regards
