  • Asio spikes with hybrid reverb

    Hello everybody

There's a small problem for me using the Vienna suite hybrid reverb. All other plugins (including the convolution reverb) are working smoothly. However, as soon as I load up a single instance of the hybrid reverb I get immediate asio spikes resulting in sound dropouts etc. The general asio load is low, it's only the spikes leading to an overload every other second. I'm running Cubase Studio 5 on a windows 8 64 bit machine. Increasing the sample buffer to 32000 didn't help either - the general asio load was slightly reduced but the spikes remained. I'm running the newest version of Cubase as well as of Vienna Suite (1.5.1833).

Is it possible that my elderly pc simply cannot cope with an algorithmic reverb? The sytem requirements of Vienna Suite state an Intel Pentium 4 or newer. Shouldn't my Core2 duo be fine then? Anybody else stumbled upon that problem? I'd be grateful for any help

  • Hy Dominique,

rather than raising the buffer size of your ASIO-drivers I would try to increase Hybrid Reverb's own latency (in the lower right corner of its GUI). 1024 samples could be a sensible value to start with.

BTW - does the same issue happen when you close Hybrid Reverb's GUI?

  • Hi Dietz

Thank you for that ultra fast response. Increasing Hybrid Reverb's latency to 32000 is what I did, sorry for not making that clear (btw raising the asio drivers buffer size didn't help either). The issue happens with closed GUI too, only when I unload Hybrid Reverb completely all goes back to normal

Hmmm ... in that case, the next step is to write a message to . Please include as many details as possible: The description of the issue (or a link to the forum thread), your OS, CPU, RAM size, audio hardware, driver versions (eLicenser, audio system etc.), software versions, etc. VSL's support team will get back to you ASAP.

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you for your help, you guys are great!

  • Updating the eLicenser seems to have solved the issue. Sorry for not checking that before (another lesson in: keep your software updated).

  • Hmmmm ... sounds quite unusual that ASIO-performance is related to eLicenser software. I really hope that this fixed the issue you encountered, but please don't hesitate to contact VSL's support team in case it re-appears.

    Kind regards,
