  • Wow:When one PC is not enough...

shock: Just got the Vienna First Edition and gotta say:if this doesn't get me that first Hollywood score,I'm done for. There are some slightly surprising omissions, and some (pleasantly)surprising inclusions-those thundersheet samples are just brilliant.I'm not worried about the leaveouts, because I know this company is going to deliver:don't you have total confidence in this mission?
Anyway, currently working on a show with real strings (wondering if next time, when they hear the Vienna strings, they'll know the difference),and using mainly the brass and percussion. The realism is quite staggering and inspirational to work with.
Just one thing:had to get the Gigastudio and PC to run it (I'm a Mac user by profession)and was shocked at the voracity of the Vienna library on the PC's RAM.It looks like I'm going to need another PC,and then, maybe, run it also on Logic's EXS sampler. And this is only just the beginning. What about the hard disk edition?!Is that why the likes of Messrs Zimmer and Newman run multiple PC's?I'd be very interested to hear of other user's experiences regarding the RAM issue.'Til then,I hope all the Viennists are having as much payed fun as I'm enjoying.'bye for now...

  • Hi straw(v)insky(i),

I thought you did die in 1971, but its real nice to know that you use the same stuff as we also do... [:D]
They're is quite much information on the Gigastudio forums(Tascam/ Northern Sounds/ Sonic Control)about what you want to know. Some users do great things with only 1 Giga engine, others need 10 +. As more as you have, more you have your stuff (sounds) at hand and can listen to the whole band togheter without bouncing tracks down to audio, but it also gets more and more complicated.

    Good luck

    Igor

    [:D] sorry Iwan
