  • Master Filter

Vienna Instruments Manual, p. 29 describes the Master Filter, etc. It is not clear what the purpose is. What does this "filter" do?

  • Nobody seems to know the answer. So why is it then in the parameter list?

  • It filters out different frequencies, depending on what preset it is using. To hear the actual effect, just try it out. It can work really well on Brass instruments, for example, where you need to lose a tad of edge from the sound.

  • Many thanks. Now it makes sense.

For "Master Filter Type" (VI Pro manual, p. 57), the options are two "LP" filters, which stands for low-pass? But the "Master Filter Curve" (VI Pro manual, p. 57) shows a high-pass filter. Does that apparent contradiction make sense to anyone?

The Master Filter is determined by two independent frequencies (VI Pro manual, p. 57), and Controller #10 in the Perform-Tab (VI Pro manual, p. 51) "sets the master filter frequency", but which master filter frequency? "Master filter Freq1" or "Master filter Freq2" (VI Pro manual, p. 57)? Is there anyone who can make sense of this?
