  • Waltzing Under the Stars (3 different MIR halls)

I wrote this piece with the idea of showing it in a few different halls, however, once I was into the process, I realized each room, studio or hall had their own strengths and weaknesses, and therefor an appropriate piece for each hall or room would of worked better. Next time. ;)

Anyway, this is the result of the same piece, still shows some differences. For the 3rd one, this orchestration is a little dense for this room with a remarkable acoustic, so not an ideal piece for NRF Hall.

  • Hi Guy,

The next remarkable piece from your hand. Guy, you never stop writing such beautiful music, fortunately! Thanks for sharing this with us.

I must admit, that I personally prefer the NRF Hall, strangely enough maybe, since I feel it is written in the atmosphere of movies I have seen in my youth. I guess in that period there wasn't much overdone reverb at all, so I just like this version so much. I regard this piece as very intimate obviously.

And, I think that that this specific MIR venue is one of the best ever made.........

  •  I like this piece!  Also, oddly enough I seemed to like the third venue best and it does sound somewhat more traditional cinematic somehow as Erik mentioned.  That trumpet solo sounds great.

  • Thanks Erik and William!

    Yes, I also liked NRF.

For the record it's not trumpet but cornet.[:)]   Cornet has always been one of my fav VSL instrument.

  • The cornet, of course!  Yes, I love that, one of the most spectacular of the VSL instruments.  I noticed the sound on that is like the bell is pointing right at you in a hall, and you can hear the articulations very clearly, though it sounds perfectly in context with the rest of the sound.

  • Hey Guy, Did you use purely the room for reverb, no other reverbs like MIRacale? Just curious as I'm about to buy one of the roompacks ^^ The Grosser Saal sounds just fantastic. The composition is gorgeous too <3>
