I'm not the biggest expert in EQ'ing reverbs/rooms. I could use some advice.
I use many different Kontakt sample libraries. Some have a brighter room and recording sound (CineBrass for example), and some are darker (Albion and Cinematic Strings 2). I've demoed all of the MIR Room Packs, and while all of them sound great, either, in general, some of them are too bright for me, or they tend to make my libraries even brighter, especially at higher dynamic ranges. I would like to get a darker sound from some of the rooms.
Is there a "professional's way" to approach this using MIR's Room EQ? Or do I eq the instrument before MIR? Or is there a combination of things to do to tone down the room in a way that is still very musical and pleasing to the ear. Since it sounds like the room is bright, I'm guessing that MIR's Room Eq is the starting place.
1) If someone could tell me to some of the basic tried and true frequencies and +/-db to start with, that would be a very big help to me.
2) Are there presets for download or anywhere else that I could use as a starting point? Would someone mind emailing me an eq preset?
3) Is Room eq discussed in one of the manuals?
4) Would it be advisable to try Vienna Suite, or is MIR's eq enough to get a darker sounding room?
5) Can MIRacle help with this on the master bus? Thanks for any help and putting up with a beginner's question. Steve
