  • The Sage Gateshead / RoomPack 4: Three new Venues for MIR Pro available now!

    Dear Forum Members,

    we have some exciting news for all existing and prospective users of MIR Pro:

    -> http://www.vsl.co.at/en/211/497/1687/2544/2557/2207.htm

    We put quite some effort into this new RoomPack 4 - I hope you like it as much as we do.

    BTW - a big THANK YOU to fellow MIR Pro user Ian Mackie who brought us in contact with the great people at The Sage Gateshead. [Y]

    Kind regards,

    /Dietz - Vienna Symphonic Library
  • PS: Due to the new sonic possibilities, there are some news regarding prices and packages, too. Most importantly: Vienna Konzerthaus isn't an integral part of MIR Pro's license any more, but can be bought seperately.

    More details here: -> http://www.vsl.co.at/en/65/71/2564/2213.vsl

  • Hi guys,

    Quite incredible that VSL have The Sage as a room pack !!

    I have heard a many concerts live at The Sage and the acoustics are quite astounding.

    I'm sure everyone will take their music to new levels using the main Hall One.

    It has been a dream of mine to hear my music played in The Sage... and now I can.

    I'm sure this hall will be the default for many MIR users!!

    Enjoy !!

    Best regards,

    Ian Mackie

  • Hello, are there hotspot regions overviews available for Sage Gateshead? (The active regions.) Hotspot regions always seem a bit over traditional, conservative and ....

    Also for the other room packs?

    thanks

    best

    Hi Steff3,

    Just take a look at p. 8 of The Sage Gateshead's RoomPack Manual - you'll see that there's an off-stage HotSpot area available on the second balcony above the back of the stage.

    There are off-stage HotSpots available for Vienna Konzerthaus - Großer Saal, Mozartsaal, Neuer Saal and Steinhofkirche (especially the not-so obvious one from the pulpit on the left of the altar is very nice πŸ˜‰ ..:) . The studios and scoring-stages are mostly covered throughout the whole room anyway, so there is no need for off-stage HotSpots (.. although we _did_ some for the upcoming MIR Pro Venues from Recording Studio Weiler ... stay tuned πŸ˜‰ ...).

    ... I appreciate your desire for even more unusual HotSpots in MIR Pro' s Venues, but especially in case of The Sage Gateshead we had got our hands full with capturing the "conservative" stage areas, believe me ... ;-D

    Kind regards,

  • Well that sounds exciting, wondering how you can manage an off-stage impulse for a venue where the whole room is covered! One thing I think would be really, really cool to have is sort of an expanded set of microphone options that can, for instance, simulate different brands of microphone or different profiles, sort of affecting the tone. This would be especially cool in conjunction with the secondary microphone. Or maybe I'm just getting greedy now after repeatedly watching VSL do one awesome thing after another. Anyway keep up the good work, I'd love to see the list of venues continue to grow!

    Full microphone modelling was on our feature wish list in the early years, when AKG Acoustics were more deeply involved into MIR's development. (... as a matter of fact it was even part of early GUI designs.) But AKG's focus changed, and the necessary R'n'D was never finished.

    But apart from the frequency characteristics, you already _can_ model any kind or virtual polar pattern of any selected virtual Main Microphone capsule. Just open the Output Format Editor, and go for it! πŸ˜‰

  • Oh yes, I absolutely LOVE that editor, and that's what made me think "wouldn't it be even crazier if these were modeled after specific microphones or if these mics had even more tonal characteristics?" Either way, I still can't get over how good MIR sounds in the first place, so these are all just comments for the sake of consideration.
