  • Vienna Suite Analyzer / White noise / and other Analyzers

    Hi,

    i have read alot in the internet, and any of the help-information and also any help manuals, but can' t find the "real" for the following:

    - Logic open new song-->inserted Test Oscillator with White Noise signal-->Level Output from the Test Oscillator to 0dB

    - In the main-Output channel from Logic --> inserted 4 different Spectrum Analyzer's (VSL / Izotope Insight / IK-multimedia's TR3 / Logic's Multimeter)

    I had expected 4 identical graphics from the Analyzer's. But in reality i have now 2 different groups.

    Group 1 (Izotope Insight and IK-multimedias TR3)  shows a nearly flat line around -35 db @all Hz

    Group 2 (VSL analyzer and Logic's Multmeter)  shows a nearly linear upward line from around -45dB @20Hz to around -15dB @16kHz

    WHY?  [*-)]

    Has this something to do with the "order" of the analyzer's, with a additional letter that has to follow after the "dB" (for example dBA or so)

    I am actual total lost and confused.....what can i trust, and what will it me shown?

    I hope someone can help me.

    Best regards

    Frank

  • Hi Frank,

     A valid question, but actually easy to answer once the basics are clear. This link might help:
