  • solo strings : hammer on and pull off

    Hello

Is it possible to achieve hammer on and  pull off on solo strings pizz?and how?

    Best regards

    Dup

  • I am trying to imagine that on a real violin.  A pizz note is so short that the hammer on would require a very strong finger hammer very quickly after the pluck, and even then I would expect the sound to be very quiet.  Perhaps you have seen or heard someone do this with good results.  It is an interesting quesiton.

    That's just left hand pizzicato.

  • Hello,

Thanks for your answer and interests

The pull off or hammer on is comon in popular  or jazz music on bass and cello.
    I want to do like:

I tried with pitch bend : it's  ok but a little ~ if often used
    Perhaps somebody has another idea?

Concerning violin the name of this effect is perhaps " slurred pizzicato" used in contempory music like here on violin few eaxamples (5'05''):

  • Have you considered using the VSL Jazz Bass?
