HI
How was DS recorded interms of positions of the 8 players ?
were thru sitting next to each other, or 4 front 4 back ?
also what is the logic behind the mixer panning when loading all 8 violins ?
Thanks

Using Dimension Violins outside MIR (where stereowidth is calculated automatically based on applied stage positions) I recommend to minimize stereo width to 50%, or even less.
When using stacked DImension Violin presets inside one VI PRO instance the approach is similar to our other string sections.

Player 1 is the leader and Player 2 is the number two violinist of the
section, so you could try panning those two slightly left and right of centre, with the other players panned out in a fan shape (3 on the left, 3 on the right). Rather than panning the two outer players hard left and hard right (which will make the ensemble sound very 'spread'), you may want to bring them closer to the centre. This kind of approach creates the biggest violin ensemble sound, but if using the Dimension Violins with other instruments it would sound more natural to reduce their overall stereo width and pan the whole ensemble slightly to one side.
