Finale 2011 horns
I've just been working with the VSLSE2 horns with Finale 2011 (OS 10.8.2) I have expression set to no controller X-fader is set to CC11 Volume is set to CC7 For some reason certain of the horn parts get stuck on the "blair" sound and never come back (no matter the dynamic setting), it's quite disturbing and is making a deadline impossible to meet. I see people constantly asking the same types of Finale playback questions over and over here, why is it not possible to have a better solution?? It's getting to the point, I don't even really want to use my VSL, which really is a shame.

I have those same sorts of problems periodically. In fact horns seem to be the most common culprits. If absolutely necessary I'll import a saved midi file from Finale into Reaper (the DAW I occasionally use). I'd prefer to always use Finale as I can't stand trying to be musical with a bunch of blobs in a piano roll but I digress.
I've started leaving velocity XFade set to CC2 which I think is default and making hidden expressions in Finale for various values. That way CC11 is still used as the primary dynamic controller in Finale while I can turn velocity Xfade on and off as needed and I don't get double dynamics. Those two controllers remain independent. I seems to work better.
I do wish Finale would make HP more customizable and let us see under the covers so to speak. I'm sure there's much more that could be done. I've also discovered through trial and error that any of the sustain samples have a much harder attack than the performance legato samples. So if you don't need a long note, maybe put in a hidden keyswitch for perf. legato.

Hello Paukenguy!
I have also answered your e-mail that you have sent us. I couldn't reproduce your stuck dynamics problem with Finale 2012 here at all. So maybe this is a Finale 2011 problem. As far as I can see your problem doesn't come from our software, our samples or the Finale Human Playback Preferences we supply.
Best regards,

I have been told by Robert P. (guy who wrote human playback) that there were some fixes in 2012 so I believe Andi when he says he can't reproduce your problem. HOWEVER be warned that there was evidentally a bug introduced in 2012b (and not fixed in update c) that prevents one from exporting to audio when you're using VSL. The workaround is to capture your audio with something like Audacity.
I'd like to upgrade from 2011 myself but won't until I know things will work properly with VSL/Mir/VEPro.

So I've been fiddling around more, and most specifically it seems as if the expression get's stuck in certain parts for no good reason. I have things like Chord balance and expression all turned off in HP. I watch the expression slider, in some parts once it hits a certain dynamic is never comes back. Darn, I had a project due today............most frustrating.

I don't have SE, so can't really comment, but had just noticed that Notion has it setup that way.
Perhaps you can contact MM directly to see if you can get the earlier version of 2012.
