  •  Dimension Strings will work with the regular VI Player. But you need also to install the latest version.

Ifr you say "classic player", I assume you are still running the version with the old GUI? This will not work AFAIK.

    Hello bhartmann,

You should start with the latest VI right away, in my opinion.

It is possible that the very latest available version of the classic VI Player (4.1.10738, in the archive) will also work, but I´d take the plunge right away.

I have made a few videos of the new VI (version 5) that will make the transition easy.

Also, you need the latest eLCC software.

You can of course also email me a few screenshots, so that I can see what you see:

  • Thanks, Paul. I will update the player and see if that helps. eLicenser is all up to date. Did the maintenance before anything else and then when thru authorization. Maybe it is just a player issue.

Thanks again for responding as I am quite excited about using Dimension Strings.

To be clear, this: Vienna Instruments Software 5.3 (Windows) build 11859 is the player, correct? Assume this is replacement for old classic player.

  • I located the Virtualstore folder as recommended, and it is empty. Basic question: Dimension Strimgs does or does not work with the Classic Player? Thank you.

Ye, that's the version you have to use. Hope this answer your question in your following post regarding "Classic Player"

  • Thanks, Herb. The whole thing has just been a bit confusing. I had some misinformation from the retailer about the players AND about the dlls so I am trying to figure this out. I appreciate the help.

  • OK, I was able to install the new player. (I did not install Pro Player yet although I have purchased it.) Dimension Strings are there when I open the new player; however, I can only choose one player at a time, or one of the two-player desks. The instructional video shows All Violins, but this is not available to me. Suggestions?

  •  That's correct. Only the PRO player can load up to 8 instruments in one instance.

With regular VI you have to use multiple instances. Personally I recomment to use multiple instances (also with PRO player), because here your have the best flexibiltiy programmingwise.

  • Thanks, Herb. The retailer gave me incorrect information (first that the Classic Player would work, then that I would have full DS function with the updated player). Luckily, I bought the Pro Player so I will install it now.

  • Just to close this out, everything is working great now. There was just some confusion from the retailer initially, but everything is good now. Thanks to Paul for helping so much (and for the great videos).
