  • VEPro crashing when loading instruments

    Hey everyone,

    I'm running VEPro with a main MacBook Pro (with either Logic or DP) and a slave PC I built running Windows 7. I love VEPro and it's really helped me, but there's one big bug that just doesn't seem to go away. I haven't seen anyone else with this problem on any of the other forums, either.

    About 50% of the time when I load a new instrument in to Kontakt (running within VEPro), VEPro crashes. The instrument's progress bar barely even starts, and then I get the blue circle of death and I'm told VEPro isn't responding, etc...Many times, I'll reopen my sequencer on my Mac and VEPro on my PC and try loading the instrument again and everything works just fine. The instrument loads in probably less than a second and I'm good to go. Try and add in another instrument and bam--same problem. This problem occurs regardless of sample library, sequencer on my Mac, how many instances of VEPro/Kontakt, etc. Updating VEPro hasn't helped either.

    Anyone got an idea?

    Which versions of Kontakt and which instruments are you using?

    Also, which versions of DP, Logic are you using?

    Latest Service Pack for Win7?

    Kontakt 5, loading a variety of libraries, including LASS, Cinebrass, Evolve. The problem was happening regardless of which library I was using, but I tried decoupling my VEPro instances, and it seems the problem has been elviated.

    For the record, I'm using DP 8.01 (not that often, though) and Logic Pro 9.1.8. Not sure about the Service Pack for Windows 7...Due to some problems before, I disabled all automatic updates, so I would assume not. To be honest, I'm fairly new to Windows and not too savvy yet.

    So which version of Kontakt 5 are you using? Did you install the latest updates from NI?

    If decoupling helped, this sounds like a communication problem between your sequencer and VE PRO. 

    You should definitely make sure that you are using the Service Pack for Win7!
