  • Panning and Built-In Reverbs

    Hi all

Am I correct in thinking that the reverb built into VI comes from MIR, with standard orchestral positionings for each instrument?

For mixing an orchestra, do the instruments need panning to the correct positions as well, or will the reverb alone be sufficient, as it already sounds in the correct position?

In short I am wondering if I need to buy MIR just yet, or if the built-in reverb on VI will yield satisfactory results.

    Many thanks.

  • Hi Pyre,

the algorithmic reverb of Vienna Instruments and Vienna Instruments Pro has nothing to do with MIR Pro. Positioning-wise, it won't do anything to an instrument's sound. It is mostly meant to be used for sweetening purposes. By default it will be switched off when an instance of VI or VI Pro is opened inside Vienna MIR / Vienna Ensemble Pro.

    Kind regards,
