  • PERF REP Staccato for Orchestral & Appassionata strings

Hi, I'm a beginner in orchestral music and I'm trying to understand why in Orchestral and Appassionata strings there is no perfomance repetition for staccato. Does it sound better with only 2 répétitions (normal staccato patch) ? Or perhaps this articulation is generaly use for adding punch in music and it's too soft comparing to Chamber strings ?

  • From memory, the Appassionata Strings have Performance Spiccato, and the Orchestral Strings have both Spiccato and Staccato Performance Repetitions. Check the sample content under "Products" on this Website for details.

  • Hello DG, Yes you right, sorry :) so it's missing only on Appassionata, because we don't really need it ?

  • It's not so much of whether or not you need it, it's more a case of they didn't record it...! The spiccato reps should be sufficient for most needs though.

  • And if you have VI PRO 2, you could always create different variations of the Spiccato rep by using the time stretch feature.

  • I thought there was a good reason that could help me to understand the way of composing with samples. For example, I have the feeling that Appassionata fit better in a mix for long notes, but after all it's more a matter of taste. Yes I bought VI pro recently ! I will give a try, thank you for all :) All the best. ALex
