  • Phasing Issues

Hi everybody ... It seems I dont get it [*-)]

I have some serious phasing problems with some instruments and MIR Pro. This is with the Dimension Violins, some ot the Dimension Brass, with the two snare drums and some other instruments too.

I have no problems with phasing when I play the instruments alone, without MIR, but as soon as I put them on a stage it's absolutely terrible.

Other instruments and Ensembles are perfect.

Any Idea what causes this? Am I the only one who has got this problem? What can I do?

    Kimaru

  • Dear Kimaru,

sorry to hear about your problem - of course that's not how it's meant to be. But I'm sure we can work it out.

Please tell us more about your setup first. Operating system, DAW, software build numbers etc. ... and most improtantly: Are you using MIR Pro as a plug-in, or within VE Pro?

    Kind regards,

  • Hey Dietz,

still at work at this time? WOW! ;)

I updated my profile and added my configuration in my signature.

Im using VEP for MIR Pro on 1 computer and another VEP with MIR Pro 24 on the other one.

  • Thanks for the info.

Does the problem happen with one instance of MIR Pro alone, or only when you combine both machines? Would you please describe the used setup and routing in detail?

    TIA,

  • Hey Dietz,

sorry, I wasnt at home, so I couldnt write earlier.

    Now here is my report:

    • I open Cubase 7 creating a new project
    • I start VEP
    • I load VEP in VST Rack
    • I connect to VEP Software
    • I create a new track for channel 1
    • In VEP I switch on button to put Instrument on stage
    • In VEP I open a new VIP channel
    • I load Snaredrum A
    • I go to MIR Pro
    • I load Teldex Aufnahmesaal
    • I coose "guess" from instrument List
    • I play

It sounds just horrible! Very strong phasing.

Other Instruments dont phase at all.

    • I replace with snare ensemble - no phasin
    • I replace with Trumpet Bb - no phasing
    • I replace with orchestral violins - no phasing

Nor I try the same on the other computer via LAN

    • I add Flute A - no phasing
    • I replace with Oboe (frensh) - no phasing
    • I replace with Dimension Strings Player 1 - terrible phasing
    • I replace with Dimension Strings Player 2 - terrible phasing
    • I replace with Bassoon - no phasing

As you can see its only some instruments. I tried several rooms, positions, eq etc. I stays the same.

Am I the only one who experiences this?

    Thank you,

    Yanco

  • Hi Yanco,

please send your Cubase test-project to  , with something like "for Dietz" in the subject line. Just make sure that there are no audio-files included. I'll try to reproduce the issue you're facing.

    Kind regards,

  •  Just a shot in the dark, beside a setup issue where two note on events are sent to the snare drum instance I see just one possibility at the moment:

you don't use the snare drum with activated velocity X-Fade?

    best

    Herb

  • Did you try inverting the signal of the instrument that is phasing ?

In Logic there is a plug-in to fix the phasing by inverting the signal
