    Hi everybody

    It's quite a basic question but I have problems understanding how to set h-span and v-span.
    Ex. Sometimes I want to go from perf-leg to perf-leg-fa (h-span); sometimes from perf-leg to staccato (v-span?). Ideally the transitions would be controlled by speed.How do I get that ?

    I prefer not to use Keyswitching (because it's a mess in the score).
    I don't use Expression Maps (not included in Cubase Artist 6).
    I think I saw a demo video on that, but I can't find it anymore...

    Go to the Advanced page in the VI GUI. You are able to set various options for both the the X and Y spans.

    However, you obviously can't use speed for both, because how would it know which one you wanted? There are various complicated ways of getting both to work, but I would need much more detail about why you want to work like this in order to come up with a useful solution.

    Regarding Keyswitches causing a mess in the score, this is only true if you show them in the score. Either hide them manually, or just exclude them from the range to be shown, as they won't be within the instruments playing range anyway. You can even set up a series of Presets for all your instruments.

    Well, I just want one part of my piece of music going from leg to leg fa. Then, a second one, later, from leg to stacc.
    Becoming leg fa or staccato when the speed (from 1/8 to 1/6) increases.
    That's why I thought the "speed" control is quite fit for that, but maybe the best way would be to use Ks or a controller.

    Apart from that, I have just realized I did not have the later VI interface coz nobody told me [:(]
    Going to install it, watch the video, and see what I come up with !

    You will need either to set up two separate matrices or just use one with the 1st row of cells with leg and leg fa and the 2nd row for the leg and stacc. Then all you have to do is find some way of changing vertically, which could easily be a keyswitch, or controller, or even velocity, if you are using velocity xFade. Lots of possibilities.
