  • Finale HP and VSL percussion

    Hi:

(I have posted this on the Finale Forums as well - covering all bases)

I am curious if anyone is working in the area of custom HP percussion setups with VSL percussion. A couple of questions:

    1) If you choose "unpitched percussion" as the instrument in HP, you are allowed the choice of sampled rolls. However, if you choose "mallet instrument" you are only allowed the choice of triggered tremolos (not sampled ones). Has anybody found a way around this if you want to use the VSL sampled rolls?

    2) I would like to have several unpitched percussion instruments on a single staff, with the respective HP commands sent only when the instrument name appears in a text expression in the score "snare drum, etc.) But whether I choose unpitched percussion or mallet instrument, I have not been successful in getting HP to send data based on a text expression Using the instrument name with a combo of "apply only" and "multiple filter", and placing the instrument name in the multiple filter box, does not seem to have this effect.. There must be a way to make this work. This is not an issue of percussion maps, which work fine, but rather one of getting Finale to call up the proper (in this case) Vienna Instrument to which that percussion map applies. Nor it is an issue of changing instruments with the score manager, since the instrument remaiins 'percussion'.

    Thanks!

    Michael

  • Hello Michael!

I guess both of your concerns would need some further development of Finale and are currently not possible, I may be wrong though. Anyway, the MakeMusic team should be able to help you better on this matter.

    Best regards,
    Andi
