    I got SAXOPHONES today, and using the manual I downloaded, it says to set the PERF TOOL to playzone G3-G6, octave offset of 2 for Legato playing. I loaded the TENOR sax, and I can't get a starting note. If I just hit a note, I hear nothing. If I do a run, then I hear it properly.

    What beginner's mistake am I making??

    Have you already registered your version? Because then you should be able to download the performance tool files for the SAX library... Just go to the user area...

    tom, please launch the activation wizzard of the performance tool from *file - activation* and go through the activation process again - this will enable the hor-legato mode which is needed to play instruments from the horizon series properly.
    you may also want to download the tool presets for the sax

    Thanks guys...I did register the software but had not run acivation Wizard, nor found the Sax P Tool presets....I'm on my way.

    So everytime we buy a new instrument that uses the Perf Tool, we run the Activation Wizard again, correct?

    for the giga platform it has been neccessary to add two more modes to the performance tool - hor(izon)-legato and guit(ar)-legato. if you have not activated the tool for the respective mode before, you should revisit the activation page. later it should be also possible to receive an information message, if a newer version of the tool is available.
    for the exs platform there are three plugings available depending on your registered products - horizon, symphonic and combi

    Christian, I have activated the tool successfully, and then I downloaded the Sax Perf Tool presets.

    I then loaded the legato Tenor Sax, but when I went to the Perf Tool to load the appropriate preset (SXT_perf-leg.pal) I get an error message from the Tool saying "File Type Doesn't Match, No Loading."

    What now??

    Make sure you selected the hor-legato mode and not the standard legato mode before opening the tool preset... I had this exact problem myself just a couple of weeks ago. I can almost bet that the hor-legato mode wasn't there after activating the tool with the sax package, but after complaining to Christian I looked again and it was there alright... [:O]ops:
