  • Welcome,

SE 1 is a great place to start, you get a nice representation of what VSL can do at a reasonable price.

Thanks, Mike! But just to get a reasonable gauge on SE1 capabilities, is it sufficient for me to score, say - the Brahms 1 or a schumann symphony? I'm not writing anything too large scale at the moment, no Wagner brass, no choir. Cheers...

  • Brahms 1... Absolutely...  Two flutes, two oboes, clarinets, bassoons, so on and so on.

The question is how serious do you take your hobby? The more you work with VSL the more convincing it sounds.

However, without the additional articulations of Plus, you may not achieve the emotion you're looking for.

Then one day you demo the Vienna Instruments Pro Player, Ensemble Pro 5, and yes MIR.

You realize it's pointless to resist, the hobby goes crazy adding SE's 2, 3, 4, and any available Plus modules.

    Or

You are content with SE 1 as an exceptional, entry level, sample package, capable of replicating beautiful music.

Give it a try, it's pretty impressive.
