  • Need some serious help with VEP 5

I am constantly running into a problem where I will finish playing a track using VEP and MIDI information will not stop unless I go in and mute each instance of Kontakt I have set up within my VEP template. When I go back to play it happens again it's almost as if MIDI information is getting attached to something and not letting go. I can't do anything because the last notes of a MIDI region are still playing though they shouldn't be. I'm using the set up for Logic Pro's Environment you can download and running VEP locally. If anyone could suggest something to make this stop so I can actually get work done that would be great! Thanks!

  • Welcome dpainmusic,

Please give us a little more information:

    • Which OS, which version of VE PRO 5, which version of Logic Pro, which soundcard and driver?
    • Is this about MIDI hanging or is the whole sequence playing back (although the arrangement is stopped)?
    • Does it also happen without the Multiport Environment (I guess that´s what you are referring to)?

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • Thank you so much for the quick reply! I'm on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and Logic 9.1.6. The audio is the Intel HD built in audio (my Mac is about four years old now). It's not usually the whole arrangement. Most of the time it's either legato or harmonic patches for any of the individual string sections. It's only happening with the Multiport Environment (which is how I have my largest template set up) but when I do everything through Kontakt and MIDI channels 1-16 for an instance there is no problem whatsoever.

    Hi,

You should definitely upgrade to Logic 9.1.7, the internal buffer has been increased with this latest version.

As mentioned in the VE PRO 5 manual (page 37):

"Unfortunately we have to confirm that Logic will internally drop MIDI events when using the Environment, which is something we are unable to work around. Of course we have informed the Apple developers about this bug.

Should you experience such issues, feel free to contact Apple support directly."

=> The more automation you use with the Multiport Environment, the worse it gets. Unfortunately.

Sorry to have no better news.

    Best,

    Paul

  • That makes sense since I have a lot of automation going actually. Thank you so much for your help! Greatly appreciated.
