  • Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 server interface won't connect with slave

I'm very new to VE Pro 5 and MIR. I've read some of the manuals specifically related to setting up. I've watched several videos on the whole process and feel I can do much of the set up. One problem.... well, maybe two... and they may be connected. Having connected both computers with an gigabyte ethernet switch and knowing that I can control the mac mini from my iMac and that the mac mini does receive internet without wi-fi but directly through the gigibyte switch, I know that my ethernet set up is set up right. So why then is the VE PRO 5 server interface not recognizing my mac mini as an available instance? Also, after reading the part in the VE PRO 5 manuel where it tells you to download the VE PRO 5 Multiport Layer.logic in order to get this process going, I could not find the VE PRO 5 Multiport Layer.logic anywhere on the VSL web site. I currently have the latest updates for Logic 9, Lion, and VE PRO 5. I have placed in the server interface of VE PRO 5 the IP address of my mac mini, but still recognition of the mac mini. It's a bit confusing having been told to download something off the website and then you can't find it or it's named differently or no longer exist because it's no longer needed. Has anyone had this problem and is there any guesses as to why it is unable to find the mac mini using the interface.

    Thanks.

  • To find the Multiport Layer:

    • Go to your (User Area).
    • In section 3 click (Software).
    • Click (Ensemble Pro 5).
    • 3rd from the top you should find the (Multiport Download Link).

  • On your Mac Mini Slave, are you launching VEP 5 in (SERVER) mode?

  • On the Macmini in Neywork,

    1) you set it to "using DHCP"

    2) you note all the figures

    3) you set it to "manually"

    4) you type all the figure you have note in (2)

  • Cyril,

When I began using VEP 5 (for me) it was plug and play.

Just lucky I guess, but I didn't have to set or note anything.

I'm hoping it's that simple for Gilmasher.

  • It depends how you plug your Macmini, thru a swtich or directly on the second Ethernet port of the Macpro

  • I figured out the problem... I was looking for the VEP Multiport Layer on the VSL website and for some reason couldn't see it on the VE PRO 5 page. It's funny how some things are hidden in plain sight. Anyhow, I downloaded the song, hooked it up according to the VE PRO 5 manual and BINGO! We're in like Flinn... whoever Flinn was.

So now I am setting up a template and will get back to you guys if I have any problems.

  • Now guess what... I thought I would make Logic run in 64 bit. Now for some reason when I do the multi layer song in logic it won't connect to the slave computer. What gives?

  • Are you running Logic in 64 bit? Because I was able to make a connection to my mac mini slave while in 32 bit mode. Now that I changed to 64 bit I can't access the mac mini. I'm wondering if anyone out there is using VE PRO 5 while running Logic in 64 bit?

I don't really understand your question in the context of this old thread, sorry to say so ... [*-)]
