  • Does Notion 3 (or Notion SLE) work with 64 bit versions of VI and VE

     Hi everyone,

Having used a demo version of Notion 3 on a 32 bit system I was hoping it might provide a relativley simple and inexpensive way of taking my first steps with VSL SE on a 64 bit PC. Unfortunately, when I install VI and VE only the 64 bit versions are avaiable as VST-plugins and Notion VST manager says that it can't use them as they are not 32 bit.

Does anyone know a solution to this? I suppose it will mean having to invest in Sibelius or Finale but I've not heard very good things about Finale and the future of Sibelius seems to be very uncertain. I don't want to work without notation so what would people on this forum recommend?

    Thanks for your help,

    Duncan

  • Hello Duncan!

Our software comes as 32-bit and as 64-bit versions. If you have a 64-bit system you can always use the Vienna Ensemble 64-bit Service. 32-bit software like Notion can only load 32-bit plugins, but the Vienna Ensemble 32-bit plugin can connect to the 64-bit service anyway. Just make sure that you have the 32-bit plugin installed and in Notion the path to the plugin is entered. If you don't remember where the 32-bit plugin is installed. look for the file "Vienna Ensemble.dll" or reinstall the latest versions of Vienna Instruments/Vienna Ensemble. It can be downloaded here:
