  • New Preload feature on RAID 0?

According to VI Pro 2 documentation, the new preload feature is meant to be used with SSD drive.

But it seemed to work fine (for now) at 8192 sample with my 2 regulars 7200rpm drive set in RAID 0 and I have reduced my RAM consomption by 1/2! Settings under that preload buffer seems to be more problematic but I didn't do in depth testings yet.

So why does the documentation is talking exclusively about SSD drives. Is using regular drives and reducing the preload is something VSL is not recommending?

    Thanks

  • With a Raid 0 normally you are going 1.5 faster, by disk, reading the samples, so it is quite normal that you can reduce the pre-load buffer

If you read all the post about Raid 0, VSL people do not like them [;)]
