  • VI not working in Sib 6

It used to work! Ever since demoing VEP5, my installation has been screwed. Right now I have re-installed VEP4 (8008), and VIP (8008) and Sib 6. When I run them and click on a channel then esc in VEP4, the screen disappears until it it finally crashes. If I put VI into an active instance, in Sib 6 and press show, the computer locks up and the program crashes. If I run VIP Stdalone, after checking the licence and content, it says it is loading, but it is really crashing. I am using Win 7 with 8 GB.

  • I am sorry, Andi, but the link to VI download does not work in Win Explorer and never has. I did switch to Chrome and was able to download it. It still does not work correctly. I installed VEP and VIP (10738 versions) and reset the audio engine in Sib. I rebooted the computer and started VEP4. Then I started Sib. VIP was not in the devices list. I connected an blank instance to VEP4. Now, if I make an instrument channel, it works. But I want a VI Pro instrument and clicking on that button crashes the program.

  • It may take a few seconds adding the first VIP in VEP. Are you sure it was crashing? Maybe it helps waiting a little longer.

If you want VIP and VEP listed in the Sibelius 6/Available Devices list, you will have to install both 32-bit plugins to the same folder and tell Sibelius on the Audio Engine Options page, where this folder is located.

    Andi

  • For devilment, I re-installed VIP 8008 as I knew Sib would find it and it did. So I re-installed VIP 10738 and now it finds it in the devices list. Why I do not know as I have used the same VST folder for years. Having it listed is not helping. I cannot show it and when I try to create a VIP channel in VEP, VEP stops responding until Windows gives the termination message.

  • Maybe you have a mishmash of versions now. I would try to uninstall VI, VE, VIP and VEP and then reinstall all latest versions. If this doesn't help, please send a crash report to support [at] vsl.co.at

  • Just un-installing and re-installing the programs did not help. So I took extreme measures and not only un-installed all the programs, but I alo did a Search and Delete of anything folder or file starting with "vsl" That even included the "path" files. It is amazing how many there were. (Windows 7 has a nasty habit of moving things unannounced.) I cleared the Sib 6 directory of any VSL file. Then I re-installed VEP and VIP (10738 versions.) Now it works! It is a shame that I have to redo my templates, but it is worth it. Time to go to bed. With the exception of time practicing my instrument, I have been at this for 26 hours straight!

  • I'm glad that it is working now, though I'm sorry to read that you invested lots of time and lost your templates.

  • Still have not fallen asleep as it is afternoon now. Just wanted to let you know that I found that I did not have to re-install all the instruments and my VEP Meta-files are still there. (Windoes probably hid them!) I loaded the Sib file of a string quartet I am working on and all I had to do to get it to play was re-connect to the instance!
