Greetings everybody,
I have a strange behavior with Sibelius (7.1.2 on mac osx 10.7.4) and VEP5 with the string section of Vienna SE+ loaded. The problem is (and I tried everything I guess) that whenever I apply an accent articulation in the score for the string sections (with the exception of the double basses and all the solo strings - those work fine) I have immediately the harm-art staccato cell triggered. When I add a stacatto to the accent articulation things are again OK, but the problem persists when I add a tenuto instead of stacatto. Things don't go better even when I change the the accent articulation to “no playback effect” in Sibelius' dictionary. I also tried to reload all these sections in the VEP – no changement at all.
Well, I guess something went wrong but can't really figure out the reason for it.
Btw - I downloaded all the most recent house styles, VE sound sets.
Otherwise everything else seems fine to me, I would only have a minor criticism regarding soft dynamics: pp or ppp are unusable, as they are almost inaudible (that means once the score is finished, I have to re-score the dynamics and put back all those pp & ppp marks). But, I can live with this, however, the accent=harmonics is a strange and annoying problem.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Cohortes

Hello Cohortes!
Please notice that the Special Edition sound set only switches correctly with the Special Edition matrices loaded and the Special Edition PLUS sound set only works correctly with the Special Edition PLUS matrices (the ones ending with "+") loaded. Maybe you have mixed something up here.
Concerning dynamics I recommend using Velocity XFade (and setting the EXP to no controller or a different controller than CC11) as described in the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual, page 15. You can download the manual here:
