CPU or/and RAM issue in VEP
-
Greetings from Hollywood, On a mid 2010 quad core I've seen CPU 180% for VEP5 (and 120% for Logic) but this was only 14 instruments using MIR and a bunch of Vienna Suite Plugins. Your VEP5 RAM numbers are HUGE. May I ask how many instruments are in this project, and are you using MIR? P/S: What made you check the Activity Monitor in the first place? Did something sound wrong? Regards, Mike B.

Hello Mike I use selected patches(instruments) from different libraries: Hollywood Strings, Hollywood Brass, 8dio Adagio Strings, Requiem, Symphobia2, EWQLSO, Liberis but it's like you see in the screenshot on the instance list only selected patches. each patch(instrument) has its own VEPRO instance, in cubase just 2 instances of EW Spaces and no instruments in Cubase - all in VEPRO I do not use MIR I ma getting cracks when playing any instrument so I checked Activity Monitor Thanks Artur

Why do you have so many VE PRO in your VE PRO server,
If you want to use MIR it is better to have one VE PRO in your VE PRO server

It does not look like !
It is no good to have also the same family instrument in 2 different VE because I dont think the memory is shared between VE pro's (can VSL confirm ? )
It's the same if you have VI inserted in your DAW, memory is not shared ! so it takes more memory, more disk I/O and more CPU resources

1. Memory is shared (where same samples are used) between VI or VIP in VEP instances.
2. Memory is shared between VI's/VIP's in a host sequencer.
3. Memory is NOT shared between VI and VIP instances.
Hi Martin
Thanks a lot for the clarifications.
When did you improve (2) ?
Regarding (3) Is that launching a single VI and a single VIP and play with a kbd ?
While I am at it, can you add an error message when you play a empty note (the sample is not yet loaded or you are out of range)
Many thanks
Best
Cyril

Q: When did you improve on memory sharing between instances in a host sequencer?
A: It has always been shared. Please note, that VI's will share between themselves, VIP's will share between themselves. No sharing between VI's and VIP's.
Q: Could you add an error message when playing an empty note or an out of range note?
A: Very unlikely. AFAIK no other sampler does.
