Is there a point to buying the DVD's when the special editions are so much cheaper?
-
Hi,
That´s what makes the Special Editions the perfect basis for a virtual orchestra. And upgrade paths make it an attractive option to get the bigger, more specialized VI Collections later on! [:)]
You might not need all the advanced articulations for the strings all the time, but you might not want to miss all the great additions for the Euphonium (or the other way around).
Best,
Paul

@OP - As it is now if you bought the entire SE bundle at once, with the discount it would be $2,100 US. While the standard version of the Cube is $3,200. There is a huge difference in quailty between the SE and the cube so if you are looking for a great digital orchestral I would go for the Cube. If you are just a hobbyist, student, or on a budget and can only afford to spend $1,500 or less then I'd pick and choose libraries from the SE that fit your needs.

Yes, you would have to buy the full standard editions. You would get an upgrade discount when you purchase the extended portion of a full library.
The dynamic samples in the extended libraries really help provide life. Generally, if at all possible, it is a good idea when purchasing full libraries to get both the standard and the extended portions of the library. The SE libraries make a very good starting point, but as one would expect, the full libraries have many advantages over SE. However, SE provides a wide range of instruments, and that is SE's advantage.
