  • Need help finding plugins - VEPro 5

    Hi Everyone,

We are running Pro Tools 8.1.1 on a WinXP computer and the slave is a Win7 computer. We have VEP installed and registered and have Steinberg keys on both. VEP is installed on both and VEP servers installed on both - along with the other software on the USB drive.

We found the problem with the connection. I had installed the ethernet card but hadn't installed the drivers. My husband reminded me and then everything connected with no problem.

We still have a problem setting up MIDI and finding the plugins (see below the following . . . )

We are very new to the world of VEP so I am feeling lost. We followed the instructions on the post: http://community.vsl.co.at/forums/p/26003/173119.aspx#173119 that were shared by Dru. (Thank you, Dru!)

    1.  The instructions were very clear for setting up the Win7 computer but I have no idea where to go to make those same changes to the WinXP computer. How do I set the IP address and what would be the equivalents for the other settings:

Click Start, Computer, Local Disk (C:). Right-click, Share With, Advanced Sharing. Click 'Share'. Click Network and Saring Center and set Home or Work and Public profiles as follows:

    Turn on network discovery
Turn on file and printer sharing
Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read and write files in the Public folders
    Use 128-bit encryption
    Turn on password protected sharing

When we insert Vienna Ensemble Pro 32 bit into Pro Tools, we do not get a server interface to click "Connect"

    2. There are no plugins available. No *.info files are on our system at all. The VSTs are installed in the Common Files/Steinberg folders but they don't show up on the slave computer or the master computer.

    3. Still can't figure out how to set up midi on VEP5. Can't find information in the videos. Shoot, I can't even figure out how to add a track to the session yet!! The videos start with everything all set up.

If anyone can assist us to get the software up and running and the computers to see each other, we would be eternally grateful.

    Thank you!

    Evens and Sue Colas
