  • [SOLVED] Help a newbie with Vienna Ensemble Pro in Pro-Tools

I recently downloaded the demo for Ensemble Pro 5. I work with Pro-Tools so I want VEP to make the best use of my VIs. What I do is first I launch the VEP Server (64-bit) then add a Master Bus. Then in the "Channel----add plug-in" it says there's no instruments found.(I have Kontakt, SSD4, and a few other NI VIs) If I launch the 32-bit Server the instruments will be there. I thought that I could use the 64 bit server then route them into Pro-Tools. Even in Pro-Tools, the 64-bit but doesn't read any instruments but the 32-bit does. Should I delete the RTAS versions and only keep the VST 64-bits of my VIs?? I rescanned and added the VST Folder to the 64-bit server. But it's still not reading it. No new VSTs appear. But it's being properly read in the 32-bit. I know a lot of people are using the 64-bit server with Pro-Tools. So I'm obviously missing something here. I read the manual but it didn't answer my question. I have the VEP 4, the free one that came with the Special Edition. Please help. I'm using Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Pro-Tools Le 8. Thanks

  •  Have you installed 64bit version of the plugs that you want to use?

If you ever want to use VIs in Pro Tools then you will need the RTAS versions. If not, then you don't need t install them.

  • Thank you for your reply. I did in fact install the 64-bit versions of my VIs. For example yesterday I reinstalled (to make sure) SSD4 64-bit and didn't install the 32-bit version. But it stills appear in my 32-bit server and not in the 64-bit (in the "add plug-in" option).

  • Hi,

our colleagues at SSD also have a VE PRo 5 license to test - it´s probably best to contact them about the 64 bit version of their plug-in.

EDIT: You did assign the correct VST Plug-in paths (also for the 64 bit plug-in) in the VE PRO SERVER Preferences, right?

  • Hi Paul, yes I assigned the VST 64-bit folder to the server. When it scans, I'm seeing scanning my VSTs, but in Plug-In, they still don't show. Also it's not only with the SSD. It's with everything. VIs, Effects (EQ, compressor, e.t.c).

  • Hi,

Please send a few screenshots that show both the location of your VST plug-in folders and the assignment in the VE PRO Preferences to , so that we can check. With a reference to this thread.

    Thanks,

  • I've managed to finally find almost all of my VIs. I just scanned every folder and some VIs started to appear. I found in which folder they were and put them all together like they should. Thanks for the help. :-)

  • I am having the same problem. I have set the VST folder to C:\Program Files\VST Plugins.
The scan shows the plugins being tested, but does not show them under the Instruments.
    The effects are showing fine.

This is a Dell Laptop with Windows 8.1
