  • Sibelius 7 First and Vienna Instruments Special Edition

I downloadad trial versions of "Sibelius 7" and "Sibelius 7 First". By specifiying the VST folder, where the Vienna Ensemble dll is located, I managed "Vienna Ensemble" to show up in the "Available Devices" list, in the Playback Options, but for "Sibelius 7" only. Unfortunately this did not work with "Sibelius 7 First". Is this a Limitation of the "First" version or is there anything I can try to make it work in "Sibelius 7 First"? Many Thanks!

  • Hello hanno98!

As far as I know Sibelius 7 First has some playback limitations, but I don't know the details. Anyway, it shoul be possible to integrate Vienna Ensemble. Please notice that for the 64-bit versions you will have to show Sibelius the path of "Vienna Ensemble x64.dll" and for the 32-bit versions you will have to show Sibelius the path where "Vienna Ensemble.dll" is located.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Umn. Sibelius 7 seems like a pretty useful software and one that is widely used. I never knew that till I came across this Seattle Pacific University credited online course for Sibelius 7 http://www.wiziq.com/course/3200-master-sibelius-7-software

  • Did things work for you on Sibelius First? Will the Sibelius Sound Set downloaded form the User Area work? ( Vienna Symphonic Library House Style v.2.1 (Sibelius 7) ) Has anyone at VSL tested this? I am deciding what notation software to buy.

  • I personally love using Sib 7 for my notation/playback software. All the demos I have uploaded used it in combination with VIP and the Special Edition. Yes, there can be bugs, but you can say that about any advanced software. I know a conductor that swears by Finale, but I also know that he has to send the output to an editor because of the odd printout bug.

  • Hello umarekawaru!

If you want to work with notation software and our sample collections, I would rather get Sibelius instead of getting Sibelius First. Sibelius First has some playback limitations (no MIDI editing, no dictionary import or editing). I haven't tried it, but as far as I know Sibelius First is able to use our sound sets, but not the "Vienna Symphonic Library" House Style.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • How do you show Sibelius the path for the 64 bit sound set?

  • Never mind, I figured it out.
