  • Problems with wind sound set

I have loaded the 14 wood wind parts. The relevant screenshots are here, here, here and here. As far As I can see I have doen everything correctly. There are two problems. The first oboe line plays the English Horn VI even though the channel settings in Sibelius and VE Pro are correct (as you can see) the fourth picture shows midi going out of Sibelius from oboe 1 but being played in the English Horn VI even though that has a different channel setting to Oboe 1 in Sibelius.

The second problem is that Oboe 2 is not reacting correctly to different articulations.

The other 12 instruments seem to work OK.

  • Hi David!

Your first screenshot shows Strings instruments. It seems to me you are always using the same filenames for different screenshot in different threads. Please keep your filenames unique.

It seems that you have fiddled about with the output devices and Sound IDs in the Sibelius mixer. I recommend resetting the output devices of the oboes and the english horn to (Auto) in the Sibelius mixer.

    Best,
    Andi

  • Apologies about the screenshots.

I have reset the output devices of the oboe and english horn to (Auto). On pressing play it reset to the same channels i.e device 1 channel 5 for oboe 1 and device 1 channel 7 for english horn. But still when I play oboe 1 the VI for the english horn plays even though the VIs for oboe 1 and english horn have the right device and channel settings.

  • Maybe your Oboe 1 instrument has the wrong Sound ID. I recommend adding the Oboe once again and then cutting and pasting the content from the old staff to the new one.

  • Both Oboes have the program "Oboe" and the sound ID "wind.oboes.oboe" The English Horn has the program "English Horn" and the sound ID "wind.oboes.english Horn".

I have already, for these insturments and other instruments not responding correctly, added new instruments and cut and pasted the music across. However I just did it again for the oboes and this did not solve the problem.

The first oboe stave is triggering sound from the English Horn VI despite the channel setting being correct for both and the second oboe (which triggers the correct VI) is not reacting properly to articulations. The English Horn works fine.

  • I seem to have found a solution. I changed the sound Id of Oboe 1 to "Oboe Ensemble" and Oboe 2 to "Oboe d'amore" made sure they were the allocated IDs in the mixer and now they are triggering the correct VI and reacting properly to articulations. So Fingers crossed I now have all the woodwinds working OK. So now the only problems remain with the strings I shall try a similar solution.
