I'm new to VEP. Just got version 5 and I don't quite understand the big picture enough to really get going.
I'm using NOTION as the sequencer and have both 32 and 64 bit VSTi plug-ins I need to use. FIRST-Am I correct that if I load the VEP plug in to Notion, I can only load the 32-bit version? If that's the case, I am fine just having Notion use External MIDI output, and using the stand alone VEP (if that's the way to do it). This is a Win7, 64 bit computer.
What I've tried, that I can't quite make work, is loading both 32 and 64 bit VEP stand-alone versions, setting each to accept MIDI input on the channels send from Notion. Should this work?
My other question is, if I want to use 32 and 64 VSTi plug ins at the same time, where do I mix? In the sequencer mixer? To do that, do I have to do some routing (which I don't see how to do)? Or should I somehow send the output of one VEP instance to the other, and mix in VEP?
I also use Sonar, which has given me no problem; I've managed to run the VEP server and connect to 32 and 64 bit instances within Sonar. Works fine. Only thing is, there are some special tasks that I can only perform with Notion (velocity and temp overdub, mainly) that are impossible in Sonar. I want to avoid producing my projects in one application and exporting/importing to the other. Not only is that inconvenient, but it doesn't quite get everything done right. I only mention that I've made Sonar work to show that my system is running fine and can handle the load.
If you are kind enough to help me with this, please remember that I am new to VEP and probably need to be filled in on the basics.
Thanks. JS
