I am having a real issue with dropouts while using VEPro 5.
Here are the 2 system specs:
Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro5,1
Processor Name: 6-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 2.93 GHz
Number of Processors: 2
Total Number of Cores: 12
Memory: 48 GB
Mac OS 10.7.3
Logic Pro 9.1.7
VE Pro 5.0.10370
EW Play 3.0.32
Slave computer:
Asus Sabertooth X79
Intel i7-3930 6 core 3.2 GHz
24 GB ram
OCZ Agility 240GB SATA II SSD drives for all samples and a 120 GB for OS and apps.
Windows 7 Pro
VE Pro 5.0.10370
EW Play 3.0.32
In the bios we turned off turbo mode, hyper threading is on.
We have tried a number of things to resolve the dropouts. We can get them by loading a new Logic Pro session on the Mac, instantiate a single instance of VEPRo on the Mac, and then run the VEPRo server, and add 1 V-Frame with a play piano.
This should be no problem at all. If he plays for a while, usually within a minute or so, he starts to get dropouts.
Now here is the clincher: I built the slave system, and tested it with a very large VEPro Meta frame, containing 5 V-Frames, each with 5 instances of the Hollywood Strings, all of the "2 Long Powerful System" and the "8 Legato Powerful System" presets that use a large amount of system and ram resources. I could play back 24 notes (playing the 25th caused clicks and pops). I could let it play for hours without any issues, quit the system entirely (right to shutdown and restart of the systems).
We have went into the core system settings on both machines, turned on jumbo frames, connected the 2 systems directly together with a CAT 5.E and CAT 6 cables, made sure the Mac wireless was turned of.
We also did a Mac to Mac test, using the same setup (Logic>VEP> Slave Mac> VEP, Play, piano) and things played back perfect.
As you can imagine, we are very frustrated and literally at wits end.
Q Any suggestions?
Q) Has anyone done a list of optimized ethernet settings one should use between the Mac and Windows computers
