  • iTunes on a Windows 7 VEPRo server causing dropouts?

Hi, I have a custom build computer, running windows 7, here are the specs:

    Asus Sabertooth X79, Intel i7-3930 6 core 3.2 GHz, 24 GB ram

OCZ Agility 240GB  SATA II SSD drives for all samples and a 120 GB for OS and apps.

Windows 7 Pro, VE Pro 5.0.10370, EW Play 3.0.32

In the bios we turned off turbo mode, hyperthreading is on.

It was running perfect, than someone installed antivirus software (Avast Free), iTunes on it (with quicktime), and Acronus 2012. Now we are having dropouts. I suspect iTunes is causing the problem, but would like to see if anyone has come across this issue in the past.

    Thanks,

    George

  • I would suspect the antivirus

remove all 3 software and try after installing each one, one after one

  • Get rid of iTunes and the anti virus. See what that does. Acronis shouldn't cause any problems, as long as you are not trying to back up anything whilst working.

    Other things to check:

    1. Do you have wireless network enabled?
    2. Do you have any other network enabled apart from the VEP one?
    3. Are you using a "green" router or switch?
    4. Is your VEP buffer multiplier set too low?
    5. Are your DFD settings in your 3rd party sample players set too low?

  • Hi DG,

Got rid of the antivirus and the itunes, but still having issues.

To answer your questions: no wireless, no other network enabled, in fact we have done a direct connect between the Mac Pro and the W7 server for the best connection possible, No router or switch was used, the multiplier was set to 2, which worked fine in the past, and the settings in Play have been set to the optimum settings as suggested by EW tech support.
