The 24 refers to the amount of MIR instrument icons (or MIR Pro plugins from VE Pro's point of view), so you can group as much as you want in a single MIR instrument. Whether that will give desired results on an audio engineering level is another thing of course.

Hi Harry,
Karel mentioned it already in his reply: MIR Pro's concept is based on the processing of single instruments or ensembles of (more or less identical) ones. Routing-wise you will be able to use mixed groups within one "Icon" in a MIR Venue, but you will lose most of the very specific features MIR uses for Vienna Instruments (... the detailed Directivity Profiles being the most relevant one, as well as convenient options like Natural Volume and tailor-made Character Presets).
While the results can (and hopefully will) still be pleasing, you will give away much of the realism achievable otherwise.
Kind regards,

Hi,
yes I see, at least its a place to start . if the upgrade path from 24 to full seems reasonable that might be the way to go (can't afford to go full out right away). Going to download the demo this week. I've been putting it of because I know I will emmidiately want to buy it!.
thanks for your reply.

downloaded the demo, wow
yes I see what you mean about the individual voices vs groups. I've got my fingers and toes crossed for a good pricetag for MIR24! :) Doesn't stress out my computer like I thought it might do either. Would you guy consider building an OS, Sequencer and Notation program too?.... haha
Very impressed,
H

Great to hear that you like MIR Pro! Thanks.
Regarding CPU consumption: MIR Pro has a Preference to switch off any processing for an instrument / signal as long as it doesn't detect any valid input. As far as I remember this Preference is set to "On" by default. It might very well be that a larger arrangement puts a lot of strain on your system as soon as many instruments are playing at the same time. - I'm just telling you this to avoid that you expect the impossible. ;-)

Forgive me if I'm behind the beat on this MIR 24 thing. The only annoucement I see of it is on the front page of the VSL website and there is no link to more info.
It seems like this also might be a good 2nd license option for current MIR Pro owners. For example, I have MIR Pro on my PC slave and would like to have some handy MIR capabilites on my master DAW, in this case a Mac.
I realiize there doesn't seem to be any pricing announcement yet - but will there be a discount for those who already own MIR Pro and are looking for a 2nd license?
.
PS - Can there be any discounted price for the RoomPacks we're already purchased?

If you already own MIR Pro and have additional roompacks for it (and you want to use MIR 24 on another machine in your system) besides purchasing MIR 24 do you have to purchase the licences again for the additional roompack licence(s) you already own?
