  • ProTools and VEPro and Delay Conmpensation/Buffers

I am having continued issues with PT accurately reflecting my sound card buffer when I choose the latency buffers in VEPro interface in PT. For the longest time it was showing 512 (latency setting of 2 in VEPRO plug) in when my soundcard was at 64 buffers. The Latency wasnt bad (was not actually 512 buffers but it wasnt 64 either) and for the most part it was stable. All of a sudden PT now halves the buffers so if sound card is at 64 - 1 buffer in VEPro shows as 32. Needless to say 1 and 3 buffers totally distort the sound. But the major frustration is I cant get my system working stably at a fairly low latency. Just tp make sure I realized how it should work I opened up Reaper and selected a latency value in VEPro and it worked just as expected. 1 Latency shows as the sound card buffer Help Dave Running 2 Win7 64bit machines - RME HDSP for the sound card.

  • Pro Tools will actually process in half size buffers of the setting displayed in its preferences. It's probably best to use 2 latency buffers or more for VE Pro in Pro Tools. Note that the latency displayed in the VE Pro plugin is the full latency of the plugin, taking all factors into account, not just the latency buffers setting.

  • Thanks so its working as it should - thats encouraging. I removed my router from the mix and performance seems to be tolerable at 128 buffers on my sound card. However the audio and the midi tracks in PT running into VEPro get out of sync. Am I missing some obvious setting when using VEPro on a seperate PC from the DAW? Also when I was running it on the same machine I was able to get 72 audio channels out of VEPro. On the new machine after changing the outs I appreciate any help Dave

  • I figured out the 72 output issue... I forgot it had to also be set in the plug in int PT.

  • Ok so its back to not working right I am not sure why? Any speculations. Dave
