  • Piano reduction setup Sibelius

Hi I just made a setup like this in Sibelius: One grand staff for woodwinds, one for brass and one for strings. I set flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoon all to channel 1, horn, trumpet, trombone and tuba on channel 2 and string orchestra on channel 3. In the manual sound set section in Sibelius I put clarinet as sound set for channel 1, horn on channel 2 and the string orchestra's own sound set on 3. I only had to make one small adjustment, The Tuba's keyswitches are not on the same octave as the other brass instruments so I transposed them down to where the others were. I only lost the three lowest notes which I feel I will rarely need, at least in the sketching process. I thought someone else might be interested in a setup like this, and maybe (probably) someone have already done this and perhaps have some additional tips to tweak this. One thing that comes to mind is that you can have piccolo and tuba (for example) transposed an octave up or down if you don't want to write doublings in your reduction but that probably make it annoying when they sound when you don't want them to. Anyway I hope this was helpful :)
