  • Enable "Solo Safe" in VEpro5?

    Hi gang,

How do we make certain tracks (sub groups, master fader etc.) "solo safe" I can solo one VI at a time and still hear it go through the sub groups and master fader?

    Thanks!

  •  The VSL mixer use a kind of Solo In Place, where as I guess you are after a PFL (Pre- Fade Listen).

For PFL to work it generally needs a dedicated output, so as the aux send busses don't sound and any inserts on the master bus are not listened to.  I don't think the VSL mixer allows this.

Generally when you solo, you still want to hear just a single instrument with it's processing, so a PFL function with dedicated output, may not really be that useful.

Most DAW programs such as Cubase,  work the same way as the VSL mixer does.

  • Hmmm...not sure I follow.  I don't want pre-fader, just want to hear 1 VI going through all the routing.

Pro mixers (I'm not one) usually put all sub groups, FX and master faders on "solo safe" so they're always on and don't get muted if you solo a track.  This is usually achieved by holding the "command" or "option" button and pressing the "solo" button on the track you want in "solo safe" mode.

  •  The VSL mixer acts like a  "solo safe" mode when you solo a track, as it keeps the effects busses in place and  plays through the master out strip (including inserts).  What the VSL mixer doesn't do,  is not be in "solo safe" type mode.

What do you want to happen in solo mode, that the VSL mixer is not doing?
