I am running VEP 5 on a 64 bit windows machine along woth Cubase 6.5. I am working with Herb's Large Orchestra template that he uploaded in an effort to understand better VEP. The problem I am having is that when i insert a VE in the VST rack in Cubase and create corresponding midi tracks, I only have the option of 16 midi channels from which to choose. It appears to me that Herb's preset is requiring "midi ports" each with 16 channels available in order to have access to 40 or so channels of instruments (one or more ports per section, i.e. WW, Brass, Perc, Strings, etc). I have usually set up my orchestral template with 4 instances of VEP, one for each section. Then I insert 4 instances in my VST rack, thereby havoing access to 16x4 discreet channels of midi in which to trigger the vienn sample data. So, trying to work ity Herb's way, here's my question.
Can someone direct me as to how to "build" virtual midi ports in Cubase so I can work with Herb's template? It appears that many of the staff at Vienna are intimately familiar with Cubase, so I was hoping someone here could advise. If not, I will turn to the Cubase forum.
Best,
Jay
