  • [SOLVED] replace hard drive = reinstall VSL?

I have a separate drive for VSL. Recently I got the 'S.M.A.R.T.' warnings that the drive was soon to fail, but it was still working albeit slowly (lots of read retries, methinks). So I copied the entire VSL data tree onto another drive without apparent errors, replaced the offending drive, assigned it the original drive letter, copied the VSL data tree back on (about 400g worth), and rescanned with the 'Directory Manager' for good measure. Now it won't load--in Ensemble Pro I get the spinning 'loading data, please wait' message and there it stays. Is there some alternative to reloading all my extensive VSL libs? Is there a way to determine where the problem is? (Win 7-64, latest Vienna Symphonic bits all around)

  • SOLVED. Renamed the existing folder "\vi" to "\vi.old". Created new folder "\vi". Moved one library in. Rescanned the directories. Verified all was well. Rinse and repeat.
