  • Hi Franck

I did try the 5.1 too and could only get 5.0, VSL support says that there is a problem on Logic side

This morning I have tried also the BUS, it does not allow to be assign to a separate out if you  are in SERVER MODE, no problem in Standalone.

You can read a long discussion on 5.1

  • Hi Cyril,

ok, all running fine here now. [:D]

5.0 Is totally ok. Dietz has given absolutely best information on the other threads. Thank you Dietz!

Now i can enjoy this incredible MIR in Surround...while i'm melting. It sounds sooo super cool.

    Best regards

    Frank

  • Thanks, Frank.

Our developers have already looked closely into this. Maybe they will chime in again later with more details. The problem seems to be that Logic simply picks 5.0 over 5.1 when both are supported by the AU-instrument (in that case: VE Pro Server). The same is true for 6.0 & 6.1 etc.

Like mentioned several times before, the "workaround" for now is to do the most sensible thing for music mixes anyway by chosing a x.0 format when using Logic.

Just for the sake of completeness: This is only a problem with the AU plugin format. VST / RTAS are not concerned

    Kind regards,

    Hi Dietz,

Did you manage 6.0 and 7.0 to work ? I did a trial but i did not, the VSL AU is saying 5.0 on a 7.1 project

    What is the trick ?

    Thanks in advance

  • We have investigated the surround handling in Logic. The problem is that Logic is sending wrong configurations to the VEPro AU Plugin. Logic can even request configurations that the plugin reportedly does not support, which is a breach of the AU specification from Logics side. We have tried to create several workarounds for this, without success. We are awaiting reply from Apple developers on how to proceed in this matter.

So for now, when using Logic and using a 5.1 or 6.1 surround setup, the VEPro plugin will be initialized as 5.0 or 6.0 respectively. However, since the LFE channel should never be used for music mixing, it should not be much of an issue. Hopefully Apple gets around to solving this bug as soon as possible.

If 7.1 is chosen in Logic's Project Settings, it should initialize the AU plugin to a proper 7.1 configuration.

  • Thank you Martin for the work and clear words.

So we waiting since Apple make something ... (maybe Logic 10.0 *g*)

    Hi Martin,

    Thanks for the feedback.

I have tried without succes yesterday to use 6.0, 7.0 and 7.1, what is the trick, they are many 7.1 on the AU VSL side

Do I need to wait for a new version of your AU ?

    Thanks again

    Cyril

  • - Please describe what "without success" means for you. As explained earlier, choosing 5.1 or 6.1 in Logic, will initizalize the AU as 5.0 or 6.0.

    - When using 7.1, please choose the 7.1 (SDDS) setting in Logic. VEPro does not support the "7.1 (3/4.1)" format.

    - You do not need to wait for a new version, it works with the current version.

  • Hi Martin

Thanks for the trick with 7.1 sdds, it is working

You cannot see the I/O plug-in in the list for this track when you are in 7.1 , (you can see this it in 5.1) Do you need the I/O plug-in to be inserted ?

The only thing that does not work on a VE PRO SERVER on a NON MIR track is the LFE rooting in the Surround pan and in the Surround balance (we wont discust again of the LFE, If I have some Omnishere sound that I want to go to the LFE it is my choise)

I have also tried to use IAC with VE PRO 5 STANDALONE in 5.1 and in 7.1 the CPU meter goes to 100 % and I get crackels

This is very strange, because this piece with VE PRO SERVER and the NEW VSL AU only uses 60 % in 7.1

  • Hello Martin

This morning I have be able to make a 5.1 IAC work

In Logic I put Process Buffer to Large (was on medium) and I have put MIR setting to 1024 (was on 0)

Setting the LFE works if you put it just over the Mute

In logic, I have load on one processor, but it is veyry small (about 1/10th)

On VE PRO 5 the load is around 55 %

Total load on my Macpro is All CPU are at 50 %, the second thread is at 20-25 %
