  • MIR PRO | general routing question

    Hello VSL ,

first of congratulations to VEP5 and MIR PRO .

I'm  not a MIR PRO owner yet, but of course MIR PRO has all my attention and I will definetely get it ,

when my schedule allows to add it into my setup.

(.... Although I've already purchased the VEPRO5 upgrade I haven't installed it , because currently I cannot change a running horse,

    therefore I can't check out the MIRPRO Demo ... ) ,

    __ __ __ __

Beforehand I have a question , which I hope you'll find the time to answer :

So basically I'd like to know  if it is  possible

    to route an Audio-Signal from a Bus-Channel  of the sequencer (Logic / Pro-Tools /etc.) into MIRPRO via VEPRO5 ?

    _ __ __ __

Let's assume that I have a sequenced session which is nearly dry , maybe some ambience is audible

in this Mix of samples ( VI ) &  Live Instruments (Audio Tracks) .

However, I now don't want to go the route to position every single instrument or instrument section (...  be it a VI or an AudioTrack ... )

on the MIR Stage , but rather have this complete (dry) Sub-Mix routed to a Bus Channel within Logic (or ProTools , etc. ...)

    a)

    - Is it possible to send this Signal on that Logic Bus-Channel to MIR PRO via VEPRO5 to postion this Stereo Sub-Mix Signal on the MIR stage

to give it a certain depth ?  ( I'm rather interested in  the more intimate venues of the ORF Studio2 for example.)

    - Could there occur a latency issue when I decide to additionally postition some solo instruments in a rather dry MIRPRO venue (ORF2),

and then route  their outputs to this Overall Sub-Mix Bus in Logic , which then again should go back to the MIRPRO stage

to give this (dryer ) Sub-Mix a certain depth.

    b)

For the case thie above mentioned  is  possible with Stereo Signals :

would the same procedure work with a Surround Sub-Mix  ?

     __ __ __

Or do I have to  bounce an Audiofile of that Sub-Mix, and then send that Audiotrack signal into MIRPRO ... ?

( This might  be all silly questions , but I hope you guys don't mind to enlighten me ... )

    Best wishes

    Gerd

  • Okay , although I've read the MIRPRO manual I still don't know if it is

possible to route the Audio Signal from a Bus-Channel within Logic ( or ProTools ) into MIR PRO .

Did I oversee something in the manual ?

  • Hello Gerd,

Thanks for your interest in MIR Pro!

You can route any signal source into VE Pro / MIR Pro, as long as you can put the "VE Pro Audio Input" plugin in an insert of its channel. This encompasses audio channels, busses, auxes, instrument channels etc.

Be aware, though, that concept-wise MIR Pro works best with individual signal sources (opposed to submixes).

  • PS: The audio signal will _not_ come back on the channel from where you routed it to VE Pro using the "VE Pro Audio input" plugin, but on VE Pro's dedicated output channels. Use this setup like you would use a dedictated, external mixing console, or a rack full of send effects (reverbs, delays and so on), not like insert effects.

  • Hello Dietz ,

thanks a lot for your reply !

I know that the described scenario is not the ideal way , but I had to/wanted to ask if this

routing method is possible at all .

So another point in favor of MIR PRO.

Very excited about it , and hopefully I'll have it soon here in my setup.

Thanks again for taking your time,

    best

    Gerd
