  • Trills in scales with VI Pro 2?

Is it possible to construct something in VI Pro 2 where the half- and whole-step trills are loaded in one matrix and a keyswitch is used to choose what scale to use?  LASS has this, which is really handy.  For example, if I press the C0 keyswitch, trills would be picked within C major (that is, whole step trills except for E and B which get half step trills).  Non-diatonic notes in LASS trill (I think) to the next scale tone.

    Thanks,

    Stefan

  • Yes, this is quite easy to setup. All you need to do is to create your trill and enable the "Scale Select Range" in the sequencer Scale tab. This will allow you to use the desired keyswitches to control playback scale. By adding the "velocity switch" to the scale selection, you can also switch between minor and major by the velocity of the keyswitch.

  • Thanks, Martin.

I'm realiziing how little I understand about VI Pro 2, because very little of your answer makes sense.  But I'm glad it's possible!

Page 31 of the VIPro2 manual explains the Scale tab functionality, hopefully it can be of some help.

  • Thanks again, Martin.

What I still don't get is how the trills (I'm using VSL SE+ with the extended libraries) fit in.

Would I make single note sequences for each step of the major scale - each sequence has the correct trill in it? And then by chossing the "perform in" scale via keyswitch (perhaps with velocity, as well), the trills are mapped to new notes?
