    I'm all Mac currently and would happily move everything over to Win 7 if I thought VE Pro would function far better in terms of stability and dropouts etc...

    Definately not wanting the old Mac/PC debate, but just real users experience if you have used both platforms for runnng VE Pro...and also the team at Vienna your thoughts would be much appreciated.

     What are your current stability problems? What are your expectations?

    The random crashes.    The stuttering audio, disappearing notes and total half second drop outs.    I'm networked directly between the two machines with ethernet.  wifi disabled.   

    For example, Im running one instance of VE Pro server on slave, with Halionsonic (running just 4 midi channels) and Superior Drummer running a good kit.   

    The Macbook Pro CPU is barely ticking over 20% yet I get these problems.    I'm running my cubase audio card (MR816CSX) and 384 buffers, with VE Pro at 2 buffers, still dropouts/.

    Any ideas and is Win 7 my answer?   I'd hate to spend a day moving everything over to find its no improvement.

    p.s. without meaning to build you guys at Vienna up, the service you are providing on this forum goes well beyond user expectation.   That is worth my custom every time.

     I may be totally off base here, but I think that there may be a problem between Halionsonic and VEP5 at the moment, so I would check that out before you start worrying about stability. it could be that once this is fixed (if I'm remembering correctly) you have no more problems.

    Thanks.  You mean a problem at Steinberg's end with HSonic/VE Pro compatibility?  Or is it something you'r trying to fix?

    I'm pretty sure that you will get better performance and stability with Cubase on Windows.

    I'm on Logic and Pro Tools but I bought Cubase and tried the switch. I love the midi features of Cubase but I've found that the audio engine and the stability on OSX was not there. I've got some major latency problems.

    The feedback from the people on Cubase on Windows are pretty positive. Looks like the best set up for a DAW and VE Pro is Cubase on Windows. On OSX, Logic is pretty decent but a bit complex to setup.

    Maybe I'll switch to Windows sometimes but for now I'm happy with Logic and Pro Tools on OSX

    Thanks DG. I never saw Karels response until now. 

    Ok I'll keep an eye on this and hope it can be sorted as the concept of VE pro is superb.

    Yes, I think until this issue is sorted out changing platform may not help at all. When the issue has been fixed you may not feel you need to change platform.
