  • Please Help! 2 Macs, Ve Pro and an ethernet cable

Hello, I hope someone can help me. I have 2 Macs, Ve Pro and an ethernet cable, but I don't know how to make them talk to each other. I am a composer not a computer guy, and would don't know what I am doing. I have managed to get my software working when I plug my slave computer into my "Airport Extreme" base station, but I get intermittent clicks and drop outs, so I figured that I should just join the two macs directly via ethernet, but they won't work. Screen sharing works, so I guess they are connected. Internet sharing does not work. Do I need to assign an IP address? I don't even know how to do that! Could someone please help, I would be so very grateful. Thank you in advance

  • Thank you very much for your reply Cyril. I have tried the link you gave me, but it seems to be dead. It does not open. Can you check the address for me? I'd be very grateful.

  • How do I setup a slave MAC connected directly on the second port of a Macpro

On the slave Mac go in System pref/ network

    1. Set it to DHCP,  you will get an IP that is not 192.xxx.xxx.xxx

    2. Note all the figures

    3. Set it to "manually"    (not to DHCP with manual address)

    4. Put all the figures noted

    5. Shut down and restart everything

    6. Start VE PRO SERVER on both computers

    7. Launch your Logic song

    8. Attach the VE PRO  of your master  and on your slave

    9. Save your Logic song

    10. Quit Logic

    11. re-lauch Logic it should attach all the VE PRO that are on your main and on your slave

If you are using a FireWall you must put those IP adresses in the "permanent trust" and to eventally remove them from "the stop list".

you may want to either use correct HTML text or use the *insert from word* option in your post which removes bad formatting.

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
